Job Title: Analytical Chemist Pay Range $55,000 - $75,000

SUMMARY: Colonial Metals is a trusted manufacturer of platinum group metal chemicals used in a broad range of end applications. With a commitment to precision, quality, and technical excellence, we support customers in industries ranging from pharmaceuticals to electronics. We are seeking a motivated Analytical Chemist to join our team. This is a hands-on bench role suited for someone with a strong foundation in chemistry and a desire to develop technical skills in advanced analytical methods. You'll be part of a collaborative lab environment supporting production, quality control, and R&D. This position requires understanding and compliance of all ISO standards, procedures and protocols as well as the safety standards and procedures required by Colonial Metals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A bachelor's degree in chemistry with a strong interest in analytical chemistry and a willingness to learn complex techniques. High attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and collaboratively. Previous experience with any of the instruments listed below is a plus; experience in a QA/QC environment is preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry

• Relevant work experience will be considered in addition to formal education.

• Work safely with highly reactive and dangerous substances, including concentrated mineral acids (such as hydrofluoric, hydrochloric, nitric, and sulfuric acids), strong bases, and organic solvents.

• Prepare samples for analysis using wet chemistry techniques such as digestion, extraction, separation, filtration, and precise dilution.

• Conduct analytical testing with minimal oversight, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely execution of laboratory procedures.

• Design, test, and implement new analytical procedures to support complex material characterization and commercial project needs.

• Maintain high standards of data accuracy and integrity through meticulous documentation and clear communication of results.

• Participate in technical training and professional development initiatives to support evolving company requirements and improve laboratory capabilities.

• Team-player that functions well in a demanding environment

PREFERED SKILLS:

• Hands-on experience in performing trace and bulk elemental analysis on a variety of organic and inorganic materials using instrumentation, including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GC-MS, CHN, FTIR, and XRD.

• Skilled in the development and validation of new analytical methods to ensure reliable and accurate results.

• Proficient in sample preparation for trace metal analysis in complex and undefined organic and inorganic matrices.

• Background working in commercial or research-based analytical laboratories, with a strong focus on data quality and compliance with laboratory standards.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• 5% travel for training or educational opportunities.
