Job Description

HR Generalist – Union County Real Estate Firm – $60k-$70k

A commercial real estate firm in Union County, NJ with approximately 70 employees is seeking an HR Generalist. This is a newly created role to support the firm’s growth. This position will serve as the company’s primary HR point of contact, supporting all employees and lightening the administrative load from senior leadership. The HR Generalist will oversee core HR functions, including payroll, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and recruitment.

This role is ideal for someone with generalist experience in HR who is ready to take ownership of the department’s day-to-day operations and grow with the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Own the onboarding process for new hires, including paperwork, orientation, and systems setup.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR-related matters.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for entry-level positions (e.g., Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable), including posting jobs, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to employee benefits; assist with open enrollment and employee inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, including disability accommodations, 401(k), and required filings.
  • employee records, manage forms, and protect confidential information.
  • Support leadership with miscellaneous HR projects and reporting as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
  • 2+ years of HR experience
  • Experience working with ADP Workforce Now or other HRIS systems is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in multiple areas of HR including payroll, onboarding, employee relations, and recruitment.
  • Comfort with recruiting for lower-level roles via platforms like Indeed and LinkedIn.
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance and employment regulations.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and handle a wide range of HR tasks with minimal oversight.

Base Salary: $60k- $70k
