The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and the Department of Pediatrics at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine seek a nationally recognized leader in the clinician-educator track to be Section Head of Neuro-Oncology and the Director of the Brain Tumor Program.

The successful candidate should have a national reputation in the field of pediatric neuro-oncology and possess a vision for the growth of all aspects of a nationally recognized center of excellence, including its clinical, research, educational and advocacy missions. The qualified applicant will have a strong track record of research/scholarly productivity, experience in program development/operations and demonstrated mentoring and leadership skills. We ultimately seek an outstanding candidate to lead the Neuro-Oncology Section and the Brain Tumor Program to the next level of excellence.

The Neuro-Oncology Section and Brain Tumor Program currently comprise 4 pediatric neuro-oncologists, 3 advanced practice providers and 3 nurse specialists who collaborate with a dedicated team of pediatric neurosurgeons, neuro-radiologists, radiation oncologists, neuro-psychologists, neuro-pathologists as well as ancillary service providers. The program actively engages in clinical trials through investigator-initiated efforts, consortia participation (COG, Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC), Neurofibromatosis Clinical Trials Consortium (NCTC), Collaborative Ependymoma Research Network (CERN)) and industry partnerships as well as basic/translational and patient outcomes research. The program also supports an advanced fellowship in pediatric neuro-oncology.

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Lurie Children's Hospital and the Division of Hematology, Oncology & Stem Cell Transplantation are nationally ranked by U.S. News & World and comprise 28 physician/physician scientist faculty, 2 PhD research faculty and 38 advanced practice providers across sections of Hematology, Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation. We have a diverse federally funded and industry sponsored research portfolio as well as actively participate in consortium-led studies in COG, the Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia (TACL), Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC), Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy Consortium (PTCTC), North American Pediatric Aplastic Anemia Consortium (NAPAAC) among others. We also have an outstanding ACGME-accredited fellowship program with 10 to 11 current fellows and advanced fellows.

Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree and be board-certified in pediatric hematology/oncology and advanced training in pediatric neuro-oncology. Academic rank will be determined by track record and experience.

Qualified candidates will have strong leadership skills and the ability to work with teams on patient focused division-centric, and hospital wide initiatives. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled.

When applying, please upload a CV and cover letter describing your interest and alignment with the position. Also upload this completed list of references form to suggest the names of individuals who could write letters of reference on your behalf.
