Job Description
Robert Half is seeking experienced Project Manager / Consultant with strong leadership and communication skills to lead a team of up to 10 people in implementing HCM Payroll solutions across multiple areas. This role requires experience in payroll systems, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to work diplomatically with diverse personalities. The Project Manager is responsible for guiding team execution, ensuring quality, and removing roadblocks. This role will be located onsite, in the office in Downey, CA.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Coordination
• Lead daily team stand-ups and report on progress, risks, and blockers.
• Align with leadership and HCM Leads on implementation goals.
• Ensure team coverage during absences and vacations.
• Oversee payroll table creation, QA, documentation, and district meeting participation.
• Review and approve team communications and trackers.
• Monitor outbound communications and email alignment with project timelines.
• Escalate and adjust priorities to meet implementation goals.
Team Leadership
• Conduct regular staff one on one meetings to track progress, offer support, and coach team members.
• Manage task allocation and workload balancing.
• Mentor team in payroll implementation, QA, and communication.
• Onboard and train new hires.
• Foster a collaborative team culture and address interpersonal challenges.
• Provide performance feedback and recognize achievements.
Quality & Risk Management
• Ensure deliverables meet QA and data integrity standards.
• Identify process improvements and resolve implementation issues.
• Monitor risks and escalate concerns to leadership.
• Maintain and approve documentation for broader use.
Cross-Functional Communication
• Communicate changes in scope, timelines, and priorities.
• Share team insights to inform project planning.
• Promote consistent and clear communication across the team.
Qualifications
• 5+ years in project management, including 2+ years leading teams. PMP Certification preferred
• Proven experience with HCM Payroll implementations.
• Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience working with engineering and implementation teams.
