The Research Associate I at Tourtellotte Lab supports laboratory research projects in pathology, performing routine molecular and cellular biology procedures such as PCR, Western blot, and cell culture. This role involves maintaining lab equipment, managing reagents and supplies, recording experimental data, and assisting with general lab activities under direct supervision. The position contributes to research on gene regulation related to nervous system development and neurological diseases at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The Department of Pathology participates in the care of virtually every Cedars-Sinai Medical Center patient, using the most sophisticated methods for making accurate diagnoses in all areas of anatomic and clinical pathology. In addition, the department provides expert consultation services to the outside community. Our expert pathologists are committed to improving precision medicine approaches, advancing basic science and translational research, and providing excellent training and education.
The Tourtellotte Lab studies gene regulation mediating sympathetic nervous system development, muscle stretch receptor morphogenesis and growth factor regulation, elp1 function in Familial Dysautonomia and neuron activity-induced gene regulation involved in learning and memory processing.

Working under direct supervision, the Research Associate I performs a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. Assists in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies. Files and monitors documents. Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results. Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery. Observes safety standards and procedures. The Research Assistant I will be able to perform routine cellular, micro- and molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, Immunohistochemistry, and staining. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
