Senior Linux Systems Administrator

Brown Technologies Incorporated is currently seeking a full-time Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) at Vicksburg, MS. The position is considered hybrid with a normal weekly cadence of 1 to 2 days onsite and the other days remote.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage access and compliance for enterprise Linux based systems
• Maintain Linux systems configuration using Ansible
• Maintain master images for local and cloud based Linux installations
• Manage updates for Linux systems using Katello
• Setup, maintain and automate computing resources across cloud and on premises infrastructure
• Build and maintain configuration for enterprise systems using modern automation tools
• Provide architecture and integration support for hybrid (On-prem/Cloud) projects
• Work with cybersecurity professionals to implement and maintain security configurations supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements such as DOD STIG
• Support and maintain automated builds and deployments for applications
• Provision cloud resources for customer projects and assist with build out

Required Skills and Experience:

• Clearance required: U.S. Citizenship is required and possession of or ability to obtain US government secret clearance

• 4 Year degree from an accredited college or university with relevant coursework (equivalent experience may be substituted for this requirement)
• 5+ years’ experience of Infrastructure Operations-centric role
• 3 years of experience in cloud platform administrations (AWS or Azure)
• Strong experience with Azure or AWS services, including Virtual Machines, Storage, Networking, and Containerization resources.
• Experience with Azure and/or AWS automation and scripting tools
• Diverse operating systems knowledge for systems administration (Microsoft Windows, Linux, etc.)
• Ability to design and implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or other CI/CD tools
• Manage and maintain containerized applications using Azure or AWS container orchestration platforms
• Experience with software project management and issue tracking tools such as JIRA, Gitlab, and Confluence
• Experience with current DevOps tools and methodologies
• Ability to clearly document and diagram technical systems
• Coding/Scripting experience
• Must have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• The ability to communicate effectively with other technologists and business stakeholders
• Possession of or ability to obtain CompTia Security+ or CISSP certification (within the first 6 months of employment)

Desired Qualifications:

• Active Secret clearance
• Experience securing applications relative to DoD STIG
• Experience with smartcard or other 2 factor authentication models
• Experience with Azure Repos, Pipelines and Artifacts
