Your role: Reporting to the VP of Finance, the US Tax Manager oversees Global Relay’s US tax functions. You will work closely with our Tax Manager on corporate and indirect tax compliance, with responsibilities including US corporate tax, sales and use tax, and other applicable tax regimes. This role requires strategic oversight and detailed problem-solving, supporting our expanding US and international operations.

Your responsibilities:

  1. Lead the preparation and review of US corporate tax provisions for multiple jurisdictions.
  2. Coordinate with external consultants on tax return filings and reviews.
  3. Monitor tax thresholds and manage nexus registration projects.
  4. Implement transfer pricing strategies and collaborate on related modeling and consulting.
  5. Manage tax accounting impacts and disclosures in financial statements.
  6. Handle tax audits and inquiries.
  7. Stay updated on US and international tax laws and advise senior management.
  8. Assist with tax planning strategies.
  9. Perform ad hoc tax analyses as needed.

For indirect tax:

  1. Oversee sales and use tax compliance across US jurisdictions.
  2. Research and monitor sales tax nexus thresholds.
  3. Ensure compliance with state and local sales tax laws, including implementing a sales tax engine.
  4. Manage related inquiries and documentation.

Other responsibilities include supporting international tax matters and participating in various projects.

About you:

  • At least 3 years of US tax experience, in industry or accounting firms.
  • CPA qualification (US or Canadian) with 1+ year post-qualification experience.
  • Deep knowledge of US corporate tax rules and US GAAP.
  • Familiarity with Canadian and other international tax rules is a plus.
  • Experience managing teams and mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with NetSuite, Salesforce, or Avalara is a plus.

Location: Open to candidates in Canada or the US, with preference for those who can work from a designated office.

Compensation: Salary range $95,000—$150,000 USD, plus comprehensive benefits, bonuses, and other perks.
