This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs that foster a proactive safety culture, minimize workplace risks, and ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and DOT regulations. Experience working with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs, including risk assessments, training, and incident investigations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Strong communication, leadership, and coaching skills with the ability to influence safety culture at all levels. Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects independently. Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record and ability to travel, including overnight stays. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced safety certification (CSP, SMP, ASP). 10+ years of experience in health and safety, including at least five years in a leadership role. Experience leading incident investigations and root cause analysis (preferably using ICAM methodology). Strong knowledge of insurance and financial matters related to workplace safety, including workers' compensation and loss control measures. Certified trainer with experience developing and delivering safety training programs. Bilingual in English and Spanish to effectively communicate with a diverse workforce. Key Responsibilities: Safety Leadership & Compliance Promote a safety-first culture by leading and supporting corporate and local safety initiatives. Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations, monitoring inspections and addressing safety concerns. Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. Collaborate with Risk Management and HR on workers' compensation and insurance claims. Risk Management & Prevention: Conduct workplace hazard assessments and recommend corrective actions. Develop and implement accident-prevention programs, safety audits, and compliance evaluations.
