Class: Non-Exempt, Part Time
Hourly Rate: $20.00/hour
Hours: Up to 29 hours/week; M-F; excluding recess periods
Location: Various sites
Primary Function: Observe players and regulate the play of sports events, with varying rules at different levels of the same sport. Make decisions and resolve disputes between teams.
Communication
- Uses effective communication and maintains a professional tone in written and verbal communication consistently with staff members, volunteers, school personnel, parents and all community stakeholders
- Communicates all pertinent program information with supervisor
- Follows communication guidelines in regards to attendance procedures, including but not limited to:
- Calls out 2 hours in advance and notifies supervisor of potential late arrival
- Requests time off 10 days in advance
- Responds to all forms of communication in a timely manner

Program Development & Implementation
- Observes actions of players at sporting events
- Regulates play and watches for broken rules
- Creates a fun and safe environment in which to play sports
- Signals players or other officials to regulates play
- Makes qualifying decisions and solves problems regarding problems
- Directs players to assigned areas
- Confers with other officials to coordinate actions and discuss problems
- Inspects sports equipment or players to ensure safety and compliance with rules
- Transport members from school to Main Branch
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; preferably attending college
- Childcare and sports experience
- Reliable transportation, safe driving record, valid CA driver license, at least 2 years of driving experience and automobile insurance
- Business and customer service experience as asset
- Bilingual capabilities a plus

Requirements
- Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist; seeing to review and analyze reports, documents or other reports; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; speaking to be heard before groups of people; position may require to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects between 10-20 pounds
- Must pass Staff Instructional Exam prior to employment; fulfills minimum professional development requirement
